Digital collections are an archiving of images, sounds, and other materials in a website. These collections are designed with a focus on educational resources, historical archiving, preservation of unique and rare materials, or sharing of resources.

American Digital Collections and Programs
Hosted by the Library of Congress, this directory of digital collections and programs across the United States of America is quite comprehensive. Some of the best are part of the American Memory program.

Bodleian Library Broadside Ballads
Containing over 30,000 ballads, the Bodleina Library is a special and unique collection of resources, some of which have been digitized for world wide access.

Canada’s Digital Collections
Offered by the Government of Canada, Canada’s Digital Collections is a massive directory of Canadian content on the Internet. Some of the best are from the National Library of Canada, the National Archives of Canada, and Canadian Museum of Civilization.

Coming from the National Science Foundation Digital Library, this collection contains digital images of morphology and X-ray tomography of biological specimens.

The Digital Scriptorium is an archive of images from the Medieval and Renaissance period that have been converted into the digital format and is available for scholastic research and teaching.

This is a true digital library containing over 13,000 titles available in HTML and RTF (though not all materials are available for free).
